The three-banded plover
Wetland dark plover. It lives in freshwater and brackish wetlands; mainly on the banks of rivers, ponds and lakes. It hunts by sight, insects worms and other invertebrates.
His legs are brown. The flank is entirely white. Two black bands are separated by a white band on the chest. The upper parts have a brown color. The head presents striking patterns, with a black crown. A white super lash extends from the white forehead to the back of the neck. The eye-ring is red; the face is gray becoming brown on the neck. Its bill is black with a red base.
The gravelot does not migrate. This species is solitary, but can sometimes form small groups. Whistles, a ragged, jerky and rapid burst, belched in flight to escape danger. Its nest is laid bare on the pebbles.
The bird is considered “minor concern”, it depends on its environment to proliferate.
